Satellite Imagery

The latest GOES 8 satellite imagery of the Atlantic tropical basin. Global Hydrology and Climate Center (GHCC) provides animations and click to zoom in features.

Zoom to 1km resolution: From GHCC. Does not cover the central & eastern Atlantic.

Coastal Nexrad (Doppler) Radar

Radars are listed in order, on the left hand side top to bottom is Texas to Florida (Gulf of Mexico), and on the right right side bottom to top is Florida to Maine (east coast). Resolution is 1 km X 1 degree. Updated at least twice an hour. Radar is from WSI and DTN. Products are, Base Reflectivity (BR) is the rainfall rate and Radial Velocity (RV) is wind toward and away from the radar site.

Regional Maps

The Regional radar maps are not as high a resolution as individual sites, but they cover a larger area. Four products are available, Regional Radar (RR) are base reflectivity, Radar Loops (RL) animates the last 6 the hour regional radar maps, Radar Summaries (RS) are the same regional composites, plus have cell movement, cloud tops, and indicate hail and meso, and Precipitation (P) is the estimated precipitation totals for the 24 hours ending 12Z.
